CALLED TO SERVE ROSILY MENACHERY, OSF
For me the meaning of “When You Pray, Move Your Feet” is getting out of my comfort zone to seek God’s will in prayer and to get involved in another’s life in a selfless way through my ministry – following the examples of Jesus and St. Francis of Assisi. As a response to God’s call, I make a choice to move forward without excuses. In answering God’s call, we need to do only one thing – to trust God with hope. Prayer is based on a relationship with God and with others. In relationship with God, one is able to seek the will of God; and in relationship with others, one is called to reach out to others with helping hands and eager feet. Looking at the life of Jesus, we see that Jesus often went to the mountaintop to be with his Father and came down to the multitude – reaching out to the poor, the sick, the marginalized and the outcasts. Jesus was very comfortable in his Father’s company, and he wanted people to be comfortable with themselves and in the company of others, so he reached out to them according to their need. As followers of Jesus we are called to reach out to others. A vocation to religious life is a special gift from God to embrace others in a special way as one’s brothers and sisters. When God called St. Francis, Francis was able to let go of everything that hindered him in establishing a relationship with God and others. With God’s grace, St. Francis embraced the sick, the poor, the marginalized and the outcasts by rendering service to them according to their needs. |
